In Memory of Raushan Temirkhanovna Alchimbayeva (1940-2026)

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Raushan Temirkhanovna Alchimbayeva on 7 October 2026. She was a distinguished intellectual property specialist and patent expert, one of the founders of Kazakhstan’s patent system, and a direct contributor to the drafting of the Patent Laws of 1992 and 1999, the Laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On Trademarks, Service Marks and Appellations of Origin” of 1993 and 1999, as well as the draft Eurasian Patent Convention and the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On the Protection of Selection Achievements”.

Raushan Temirkhanovna dedicated more than 40 years of her life to the field of intellectual property. From 1992 to 2001, she served for nine years as Deputy Head of the Patent Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In this role, she coordinated the establishment and development of the national patent system and actively contributed to the advancement of intellectual property at both national and international levels.

Raushan Temirkhanovna was born on 1 September 1940. In 1963, she graduated from the Rostov-on-Don Institute of Agricultural Engineering with a degree in Precision Mechanical Instruments, obtaining the qualification of Mechanical Engineer. From 1971 to 1973, she underwent professional training at the Central Institute for Advanced Training in Moscow, where she qualified as a patent specialist. She devoted her knowledge and extensive experience to the development of the patent system in Kazakhstan.

Her career in the patent field began in 1969. On 23 October 1997, Raushan Temirkhanovna was registered in the Register of Patent Attorneys of the Republic of Kazakhstan under one of its earliest registration numbers – No. 3.

Her exceptional professionalism, impeccable reputation, and unwavering dedication to her work earned her the deep respect of colleagues both in Kazakhstan and internationally.

Her colleagues and the patent community will remember her as a wise mentor, a professional of strong principles, and a warm-hearted person.
