Intellectual Property Trainer Training Launched in Astana with the Support of the WIPO Academy

On 28 September, the first module of the “Intellectual Property in Creative Industries and Basic Teaching Methodologies” Training of Trainers Programme commenced in Astana. The training is being held with the support of the WIPO Academy for the Development of Intellectual Property Education. The programme is attended by 34 participants, including practising lawyers, patent attorneys and intellectual property experts. The Training of Trainers Programme is an important stage of the project to establish a Training Centre in Astana and its branch in Almaty at the Kazpatent Training Centre. Experts from Ukraine, Lithuania and Kazakhstan are taking part in delivering the training sessions. The participants will explore intellectual property issues in the creative industries and develop teaching methodologies.

At the opening ceremony, the participants were welcomed by Marina Sirotina, Deputy Chair of the Committee; Maria Bychkovskaya, WIPO Academy Coordinator; and Sabit Akhmetov, Director of Kazpatent. Kairat Torebayev, Permanent Representative of Kazakhstan to the WTO, joined the event via video link.

From 5 to 9 October, a similar training programme will be held in Almaty at the Kazpatent Training Centre.
