On 25–26 June 2026, a two-day training seminar entitled "Legal Protection of Patent Rights Objects in the Republic of Kazakhstan" was held in Almaty. The event was organized by the Training Center of the Kazpatent Branch and brought together representatives of scientific and educational institutions, patent attorneys, inventors, and intellectual property professionals.
The seminar was opened by Altynay Taisheva, Director of the Kazpatent Branch. In her welcoming remarks, she emphasized the strategic importance of the patent system in fostering the country's innovation-driven economic development and highlighted the need to enhance inventors' awareness of intellectual property protection.
The seminar programme covered the entire patent protection process. Experts from the Kazpatent Branch presented the key aspects of patenting inventions, utility models, and industrial designs, as well as the procedures for obtaining international patent protection through the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), the Eurasian Patent Organization (EAPO), and the European Patent Office (EPO). A separate session was devoted to the legal protection of plant breeding achievements.
The practical sessions attracted particular interest from participants. Guided by the experts, attendees learned how to prepare patent applications by selecting the appropriate type of patent protection and practiced conducting patent searches using leading international databases, including Espacenet, WIPO PATENTSCOPE, and the EAPO database.
Upon completion of the two-day programme, all participants received certificates. The seminar was highly appreciated for its practical relevance and excellent organization.
The Kazpatent Branch extends its sincere appreciation to all speakers and participants for their active engagement. Events of this kind contribute to strengthening Kazakhstan's innovation potential and promoting a stronger intellectual property culture across the country.
