19 March, 2026

On March 18, 2026, a training seminar on "Patent search and patent research: inventions, utility models, industrial designs" was held in Almaty, organized by the Training Center of the Kazpatent Branch. The event was attended by representatives of scientific and educational institutions, patent attorneys, inventors and specialists in the field of intellectual property.

Zaure Orynbekova, Director of the Kazpatent Branch, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. In her speech, she emphasized the key role of patent research in the process of creating and commercializing innovations, as well as the importance of a competent search approach to minimize the risks of violating the rights of third parties.

During the seminar, the experts of the Kazpatent Branch analyzed the legal basis for the protection of industrial property, the conditions of patentability and the differences between the objects of patent law. Special attention was paid to the examination procedures, the transformation of applications, as well as the standards of documentation and patent classification.

The practical part was devoted to search methods where the students were shown working with databases (Kazpatent, EAPATIS, Espacenet, Patentscope). A separate section was devoted to the algorithm of patent research: from the development of regulations and document analysis to the preparation of the final report. They also discussed the role of Technology and Innovation Support Centers, as well as the capabilities of the WIPO TISC network to accompany applicants.

The seminar ended with a question and answer session, where participants were able to receive individual consultations from the speakers. At the end of the event, the participants were awarded certificates.

The Kazpatent branch expresses its gratitude to the speakers and participants for their active participation and contribution to the development of competencies in the field of patent search and intellectual property in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
